Chapter 2

“I’ve been talking to the high priest,” she began, running a long finger absently up and down the bars between them.

“Oh?” Julius was no fan of the high priest. To be fair, he had never even spoken with the man, but the old bastard had been more than willing to remove the professor’s balls for him, so it was safe to say that he didn’t seem like the sort Julius would want to associate with. “What about?”

“About you, silly!”

Great. Just fucking great! Julius grumbled inwardly. What the fuck had that old shit come up with now? He could feel his pulse quicken as his mind began to run through a series of possibilities.

In the other room, the gorgeous Natalia swung her long legs to the floor and sauntered toward the grating. Again, as he watched her womanly hips sway from side to side, Julius found himself wondering just how much of this was her natural grace and how much was put on for his benefit.

“Yes,” she breathed as she came to a stop on the other side of the wall. Their faces were separated by less than a foot now, and Julius caught a faint whiff of her perfume from the grating as he stared into the deep pools of her crystal-blue eyes. “In fact, he and I had a nice long talk about you.”

Julius was silent, waiting for the other shoe to drop. The lump in his throat made it hard to swallow.

“I’ve convinced him to let you out.”

Julius hadn’t heard her correctly. He couldn’t have. He was just certain of it. In the brief moment he had been waiting for her to speak, he had run through dozens of possible fates that his wife and the high priest might have devised for him. This was not among them.

“You… he… what?” he stuttered.

“You heard me! I’ve convinced him to let you out,” his wife smiled.

A surge of elation welled up inside Julius. “Out? Let me out?!” he grinned back at her. “That… that’s… Oh my God, Natalia! Thank you! Thank you! This cage is fucking killing me! Oh, thank God! I…”

“Wait. Wait,” she said, shaking her head. A sudden tinge of sadness came to her eyes. “Just wait, Julius. I’m sorry. I should have been clearer. When I said ‘out’, I meant out of your cell. He’s agreed to let you leave your room. But, the… um, the cage stays on. Sorry!” She shrugged, offering her husband a consoling smile.

Julius nodded his understanding. His heart sank briefly at the disappointment of not being released from the uncomfortable cage that held his manhood in a permanent state of flaccid obedience.

‘The cage stays on’. Her words reverberated inside his head. Damn! Even though he hadn’t even considered its removal a few minutes ago, his instantaneous delight at the thought of being free of the cage meant that he was now bitterly disappointed to hear that he would continue to wear it.

A moment later, though, his spirits rallied. The high priest had agreed to let him go outside.
